Sketching in Lisbon, Santa Justa 2

Armed with a sketchbook and a pencil, we yesterday went head to head with wind and rain, and tried sketching in Lisbon. From the top of Elevador Santa Justa, a national monument in the center of Lisbon, we had stunning views and challenging motives. Our teacher, Sara, is a local Portuguese girl that is finishing her Architectural studies. She explained the basics of sketching and gave us some advises on how to begin.

Sketching gives you a wonderful feeling of using all parts of your brain. Structure and discipline tries to go hand in hand with creativity and impatience. It is a way to “take a picture” of a special time and a special place, just the way YOU saw it. Every “picture” will look different from the other, and it is all about perception. A drawing will always represent the world as you saw it at the moment you drew it.

We hope that you will have the chance to try out this beautiful activity with Bomdia Lisboa and Sara when you come to Lisbon the next time.
